Since my last blogs we have welcomed in 2018 with a trip to Greece for the new year and then a trip to Thessalonica with Mike and Janet and in the month of January my first real role as a Consultant for a week back to Ireland to do a Constructability Review among other things for a potential major project out there.
We went to the palace of Phillipos north of Kavala which was where we were having lunch above and the weather was amazing.
We also had to put up with seeing and smelling this atrocious aluminium plant on the main access highway to the north of Volos.
Not sure which bit of the word anti-pollution people seem unable to grasp. We had the car windows shut and yet we could smell and when you thin that all around this valley were crops growing and people living it just throws up so many things that are wrong.
It isn't just in Greece but when you have an austerity taxing economy , then it appears that control goes out the window.
Anyway , Since returning to the UK I have been on a consultancy to my ex-company in Ireland so a Monday 06.30 flight till Friday afternoon for 5 weeks up until the end of the first week in March when Lynda took me to Greece for my birthday for 2 weeks.
Oh , and we had these two interlopers gate crashing Kardia--not really we had a great week with loads of walking and good food and all round fun.
Love the valley of the Ancient Olive trees and we had chance to go to Paliochora -- 30 + years on the island of Aegina and I had never been up there--- till now ---
That was fun , as was spending time with great friends Mike and Janet and of course our Georgina -- so good to see her coming out of such sad times, but she has such good friends around that on Aegina , no-one is going to let you drown in bad times.
So I have been back in Ireland for the past 3 weeks and have one week left at this place before I leave the Lads to head off with my bestie to ride the prairies of America in 8 days time.
Seams like I have spent half my life in this place -- been fun though. Although , do you know ,m this Consultancy lark is great-- you go in you get asked to look at stuff you used to look at all the time -- give your opinion and recommendations , and then leave and all of that without having the Red Cross on your forehead anymore --- Oh and they pay you lots of money as well--- happy days after what last year cost us.
So here's the thing -- my blog is back , and it will be in earnest on a daily basis from when we get out to The USA to capture our road trip--- from Florida to new Orleans to Texas (the Alamo), to Tucson , to san Diego, to palm springs , to LA , to San Fran, to Eureka, to Portland , to Seattle and then home----I shall post the links onto FB so if anyone has nothing better to do you can check us out.
Ok folks , things to do , places to go etc etc so keep watching.
