THANK GOD FOR WALMART

Ok , so having screwed up with forgetting the leads to download the pictures from Lynda's camera -- only real job I had to do -- with a little help from the ever available WALMART -- one in every town , a bit like Woollies used to be -- we are cooking on gas.

So yesterday was a trip from Jacksonville to Tallahassee -- that's heading east to west across north Florida ---
-- not too bad a trip around 3 hours with a stop to a Denny's for breakfast on the way --
-- We were pretty good and did not over indulge even if it was tempting.

So having finally got the camera downloaded the following are some of the photo's from our first day driving around --

She could not resist one of the inside of the car - very smart console even if it did take an inordinately long time to work out where everything was /is.

Decisions decisions, --

Huge Stadium we went past but nothing happening that evening - probably needed to be there at the weekend-- shame about the tree and the sign

Oh and we saw plenty of these places but then of course it is Florida and the Commander in Chief is well in with the NRA

Stungun for 30 bucks sounds like a bargain though---

The one thing that you notice when driving around Florida that it is not only surrounded by water but that it is everywhere, - ponds, lakes, the everglades and just about every mile that you drive.

I think Bondi Beach, Coppa Cabana and a few others  might just have something to say but the Americans do know how to maximise on the publicity.

One last piccie of the Daytona Beach and our wheels--

So there will be a few of the water on our drive around but that is inevitable as we do seam to go to either places specifically on the water or with it in some way nearby--

This is the skyline in Jacksonville and a bridge we came to know intimately. Another little trick I should have cottoned on to was that since we got the Garmin sat nav loaded for the USA for Craig and Juliet  2 years ago , there have been some changes to the roads and when we followed the lady talking it keep sending us over the bridge instead of the new ramp that would have taken us to the hotel so it was over the bridge about 3 times and back again.

Had to get a picture of the steel bridge below great engineering at its time of construction .

So lots of water

Lots of low lands and flood planes -- Lynda saw lots of houses along the way with sand bags near the front doors ---

But not these houses -- these were along the coast road from Amelie Island and they were either higher up than the water from the Atlantic would come in or were partially on stilts --

But they were beautiful, with amazing views of the sea-----

And then there was the swampy areas that just reminds you of the everglades but in their own way very beautiful.

But you don't travel far in Florida without coming out onto the water again -- I love the way that here , instead of pulling down the old bridge when a new one gets built , they convert it to a nature walk and fishing venue -- without the exorbitant charges that you get in the UK.

Without waxing too lyrically , some of the water areas were very beautiful and it would not take much to imagine how in tune with nature that would be if you lived in a spot like this.

However it might not be so great when it gets full summer and humid with mosquitos in abundance.

I think that this was the steepest up and over bridge I have ever been over-- just suddenly going up very sharply and down just as sharp but with enough room underneath to get a ship through.

So that's it -- nothing too exciting -- still getting out feet wet -- did that buy the pool very nicely yesterday afternoon in this pool thanks very much --

A nice few laps and a stretch out in the sun for an hour or two -- perfect.
OK, so now for today with breakfast in the hotel, and then onwards to the next stop -- Navarre, Pensecolla

See you later Folks.
