So this is really just a footnote following the blogs I have done for our stay at Lake Como but we felt that it was worth capturing a couple of gems found in the town on the lake that is not famous in the way that Ballagio or Managgio, or Como or even Laglio ( home of GC ), but does have a couple of real treasures when it comes to eateries, and for our Hotel Regina.
Firstly we found Ristorante Ca De Matt --
Lynda found this by chance off the beaten highway , behind the Pizzeria. Very intimate with great service and the food was first rate. The chef certainly put a new twist on how to cook Sea Bass.
The second night we decided that we actually needed Pizza -- a real Italian pizza and went to the first that we came too and it was delicious.
Which left our last night having scrumptious Cheeses and tagatelle bolognaise in the amazing Cantina E Bottiga organic restaurant and seller of fine wines and local products.
The ambiance in this cellar was amazing and apparently there is another cellar below that is not currently use for anything else that for maturing some of their best wine. When the owners took bought it in 2015 it had not been in use as a wine press and bottling store for 50 years.
The owners were Italian and the hubby was the chef and the wife was front of house -- spoke at least 3 languages fluently , had a real grasp of the aim which was to sell only organic and wherever possible , local produce.
She had a masters in Hotel and catering management and also studied such specialities as Olive oil and fine wines. Very personable and the food was absolutely excellent .
The bottle shown here is a Pinot Noir and Lynda and I both agree that it is the best we have ever drunk -- so need to start looking around for it.
And so to the Hotel Regina -- our Hotel - cheap -- No -- worth it -- Yes -- we had the middle superior on the second floor with the large patio balcony, with loungers and a view to die for darling.
Oh , and I swam in the pool yesterday and while not too warm it was ok. I do have a bit of a red chest today though so looking for the Aloe Vera tomorrow.
So with this as our view this morning it was hard to tear ourselves away. Ah well, here we are in Reims after an 8 - 9 hour drive today, and it is Cathedral time in the morning.
Bonne Nuit everyone.
