A Winding Road to a Great Big Wind-up

Anyone ever go back over a route for a second time , because you really wanted to have another look --yes -- well we did too, because part of the reason of this trip is very much about going back to reconfirm what your memory tells you was an amazing trip with stunning views.

So we saw these ---

We passed by this which we have visited before

It is just like Disney World -- it was William Randolph Hearst -- Billionaire media man from the 30's/ 40's --- own personal playground.

So there we are travelling up north on the I - 1 pacific Highway and we saw the following on the way up -- we were planning to stop in Carmel ----

Sebastians Pier

Took lots of shots of these fellas

We were one minute in blue sky then up into the misty clouds very fast--

And when we were going through the Lucia area -- passed Ragged Point by around 10 miles , we came across a road barrier that said the road was closed -- probably due to something like this below--

So when we talked to the construction person at the barrier, she was a little unclear as to why there was no sign of warning back at the only turning that can get you around this and take you to the 101-- Oh , that's 40 odd miles back at south of Cambria -- yep we had to turn around and go all that way back so whether we wanted to see these views again or not we had no choice---

Still we would not have seen all this lot--

Huge wineries - far more vines than along Napa Valley
With a fair bit of decent entertainment at the wineries in La Robles

Also we followed the trail of the old missions and this was one of them -- there were around 18 missions along the west side of California from San Diego up passed San Francisco.

Huge amount of character in the buildings

So the significance of the bell in the photo below is that there was a bell placed on the El Camino Trail -- ( all the missions are on ) -- the bells are spaced apart in the rough position as to the distance a cowboy could ride in a day, so he/ she would know that they were still on the right trail

This time we didn't visit Pebble Beach -- been there , done that and spent my $17 for the privilege to drive through -- bet its about $50 today,

We also we only went through these places with no time to stop due to the delay -- Oh and apparently Clint wasn't gonna be in there yesterday-- Carmel and the Hoggs Breadth & Monteray

So we eventually got in to San Francisco and got this shot of the SF Giants Stadiun

Ok , so not great but it was getting late and we were pretty Bushed.

I wonder if the Yanks say -- "We were pretty GW'd"

So here we are for 2 days --
well one full day actually so gotta get up and get busy, there's a tram to catch and a wharf to enjoy with some amazing pictures to capture so -- happy days.
