When we asked for what soup they were serving , their ideas are so vastly different to ours--I mean a Chowder can be close to a soup but that which Lynda had last night was like the thickest groul I have seen and when my chilli "soup" came I could have used it to lay bricks on and by god did it every come back with amongst other issues heart burn in the middle of the night--really bad--needed water--lots of it.
Great picture of Lynda--we may finally have cured the turning away and not smiling for the picture thing she has had for as long as I remember.
So this place is Ruby's Diner , bang in the middle of the main street of Palm Springs, and it is very 1950's style and while overall it is ok I don't think it is that good.
How about the fact that I am missing the likes of cabbage and cauliflower and proper potatoes--especially mash which they really do not know how to make in regular restaurants--you need to be in a place that is a little more expensive.
I am not sure that I can imagine what my mother would have said if she could have heard me wanting cabbage-- this from her boy who as a kid wanted to eat the pudding first before dinner.
So the hotel is even more quiet at present than before-- not only did Mike and Di leave here yesterday but so did a whole bunch of others, and so after tomorrow when we go there will only be Clive and Jan and maybe one or two others.
Lynda and I agreed that if we ever do come back to PS, then for sure we will come either April/May or October-- August and September is very very hot, kind of relentless and a bit oppressive --- better than the cold and rain of course, but even so it makes it uncomfortable at times.
We paid our respects to Mr Sonny Bono--(ex Sonny & Cher) and also ex Mayor of Palm Springs.
As we were driving round yesterday we were both agreed that while we still have a couple of great adventures in LA to come, we have had enough of being away from the family now and want to get home. While I am sure that when we are home we will have nostalgic feelings for the places we went to that were real stand outs -- and would feel that it would be really good to be back at them---the bottom line is that we need to also be seeing those we love much more than this trip has allowed---well really, it has been either Skype , text , FB , email or phone.
Now how that will be when next year we are spending a similar period in Greece--I guess that there is a great chance that family and friends will be coming and going there on a much more regular basis--even though we are already planning the king of places that we want to go and see---Delphi, Mt, Olympus, Sparta and the Peloponnese as well as Thessaloniki and the northern areas of the country but we can do these in short 2 week spurts.
Places like----
Sparta Theatres
Delphi ancient buildings
Couldn't resist this one but apart from Leonadis having a Scottish accent I did like the 300 but below is a bit irreverent--
And a couple of Ariel shots of a place called Parga in north west Greece, that Lynda and I found by accident that is really stunning and a reminder to both of us that there are a thousand bays and inlets like this for us to explore and find.
So you may be forgiven for thinking how ungrateful we must be having had what for us has been a real trip of a life time, to start thinking about the next trips next year that we are planning but if Lynda and I have learnt nothing else it would be that we need to be always planning ahead as if you don't there is the running the risk of stagnating and never getting around to doing things that you would have loved to do.
So next big deal is to purchase this------
Now were do we fit the 4 suitcases then-------------------?
