This is the first real view as you dock in the harbour of Aegina.
Anyway , imagine our surprise to find the following "Greek Island Café" in the centre of town, with authentic Greeks, and serving traditional greek food----
Very small place that has only been there for about 8 months--before that they had a place on Santorini, near the beach----
This is the family---(I don't think the mother is Greek)--son runs front of house and father does the cooking----
This looks a little similar to what Lynda had and we started with scorthya and panjari and I had the Gyros chicken and greek salad---
Anyway it was good to have this kind of drop in on our laps and we wish them every success in the future.
As for us well we were sorting last bits out, put another bag into the car and then lazed by the pool a while before a last look around town in the evening.
First place we visited to have a little flutter was the Casino in the town--
A very smart place and lots of folk there twenty four seven---
Now my missus loves a little flutter, gets a but excited around these machines, and thinks nothing of making $ 10 last at least an hour with her 25c bets , I mean it b=can get hypnotic with that wheel spinning and the noises from when the 3 bars occasionally come up.
I was a winner anyway--put in 10 bucks and walked away 10 minutes later with 20 bucks, not bad eh.
Anyway, what I want to know is how come that when every place we go into there is a ban on smoking like in restaurants , shops and most other places--that the casinos seam to be exempt. I really was amazed at the way that machine players were allowed to lounge around chain smoking and effecting everyone else with their habit. You can actually smell it before you get through the inner lobby doors. Really poor form and actually when you look around the majority of those playing in there were almost certainly local folk, so perhaps it is the only place that they can relax and smoke at the same time when not at home.
Lynda and I had a nose around the local classic car showroom which the place seems to love---she photographed the trans am but didn't capture the red jaguar--
Being Thursday it means that it is street stall sellers night so we did a little stroll up and down the strip----
This guy could really play that guitar well
And this work we agreed was really worth showing again -it is certainly work that I could put up with on the walls at home.
So as you are probably aware by now that finishing this means that it is time for brekky---however my wife is sitting on the bed with a pout on her face and is stamping her feet demanding that she gets a Sharps Sonic Duo carpet cleaning machine---I mean how the F--- are we gonna get it home for a start, we are already over weight by a mile---we will be that horrible couple who get on the plane with loads of hand luggage that takes up most of the space in the overhead lockers---Come on Lynda, we have an apartment that we could scrub on hands and knees in ten minutes--why do we need this.
Can anyone remember the story of Toad of Toad Hall in wind in the willows---when he saw the sports car , his eyes glazed over and he went round saying -- Burp Burp and Brum Brum---well now you have the picture of Lynda.
So Its been a great 12 days here in Palm Springs and we have done a fair bit, had time with great friends and made some new aquaitances and seen things that we never saw before
We might be back but here are a couple of images that's spell out about this place--
So thanks Abi and the staff at the Royal Sun Inn, I am sure that you guys will get this place up to speed in the next couple of weeks for the start of season--it is still a real good deal here and so long Frank and Sonny and everyone else in Palm Springs --its been great--- LA, here we come---
