Great Skype-ing yesterday with Ann and Rod --we miss you guys---catch up again soon. Hey Rod, go on to www,mudsharkbeer.com tried some good beer there that you would have enjoyed.
Ok so another busy day planned today with the wine tasting and vineyard visiting but there are so many , it is a bit of a lottery where we go.
Yesterday we went to the Old Town of Temecula and had a really good nose around but first, I just had to get a couple of pictures of a facility that I spotted just off the main highway, outside the old town---
I can smell a FAB from miles--well sometimes literally-- but just in passing I mean and this one was no exception.
For those of you aficionados who have a bit of M+W history that you can go back into , International Rectifier were an American company that was persuaded to build a plant in a place called Penthlagaer, just outside Swansea, back in around 1998 and we were the PM for the project. IR went on to buy Newport Wafer Fab, in the early 2000's, Which of course was the first major Fab for M+W Pearce ok after GC Plessey) .
Just thought I would share that with you.
So as I said, Lynda and I went to the Old Town of Temecula yesterday --
This town is immaculately preserved and actually manages to build new facilities in the old town without destroying the towns credibility and it is kept immaculate.
They even have piped music through speakers that are fixed to the lamp columns and the walkways are in part timber.
Just to keep the customers cool "Mad Madeline's" café has cold misting system around the terrace to help with the temperatures-- I think they add a buck to every bill though.
Lynda just went inside here--now can she find a bargain-----
Great piece of modern build in an old west style--
Couldn't resist this shot and he was willing -- just not sure where you put the girl though, but could be fun trying to find the right spot----
Smart restaurant that has a pianist in the evenings but looks real nice--- real posh
That's more like it --The Gambling Cowboy where we ate the night before----
Of course she found a bargain -- my girl never fails---never
Just liked the look of this place--you can almost see the cowboy getting punched on the upstairs and falling backwards down those stairs and Big John Wayne striding down after him--trousers over his ankles and six gun hanging low over his hip---yessiree bub
OK the spelling may not be quite right but doesn't stop us seeing things like this and thinking of our boy, every day------
So in Temecula, you can go to this shop and buy and smoke whatever you want --they have a nice little seating area outside but under cover where you can smell the quality cigars and the like wafting around---still not right but you gotta admire the entrepreneurial spirit--
So here is the Civic Centre/town hall/conferencing centre--this is about a third of it built in Mexican style in the Old town while there is a huge new town wrapped around the old with big business flourishing, buy they chose the old town for the offices---great support for tradition as the old town was established in 1859 and deserves to be preserved-----and BTW take a bow Temecula Council on how clean the town is , not just the old but everywhere.
Great sign of the day for a ladies boutique --- MS Chevious----
We went into this brick a brack shop and garden where we were some 7 years ago
Sorry--had too--
Every March they have an old car rally and we say it back in 2006 with Rod & Ann ---still a few around here every day
Couldn't resist this one just because I love this car --its a lottery car--and even more the fact that the rear number plate--no front one---was just the rings of the Audi logo--you gotta love the yanks---
Imagine -- mixing the booze with the Psychics--some combination for whatever comes out at the end--- " Is there anybody there" YEEeeaaaah-- "Well clear off , your interrupting my drinking time".
Another great example of modern construction and old style and we like the name Chaparral.
We found this place which had some beautiful things in --china and crockery, linen and smellies and for a business professing to be "European Living" there is nothing from the UK, so we are trying to put the owner in touch with the Watkins clan to come up with a deal that takes their products West instead of East------------Dick and Pauline , we will discuss commission later.
And this is here just because Lynda wanted a picture of their mail boxes.
Got back mid afternoon and had a great swim and then had an "All you can eat " Chinese self service meal for £5 each---it was good as well as extraordinarily cheap.
So Brekkies calling and then some wine---such a tough job but someone has gotta do it---Lynda we might need a cab back------------
