Home & Away in Summer Bay, the Fateful Way

Trying to think of a title for the final Australian post was always going to be difficult not to just be corny.

Well come on, its corny enough for many people to just be coming to find the outside location of the TV series in Palm Beach about 20 kilometres outside Sydney, but then things happen and you have to wonder about outside influences taking a hand in how a normal day unfolds

.So here is the thing. I am a Fatalist---that's fact.

And if I wasn't before today , I would for sure be one now.
2 days ago , Lynda and I were at her relations, - the Moore Family home in Crescent Head, about 5 hours away from Sydney.
The 2 missing children were Brendan , who lives/works in Sydney and Chiara, who decided to do a Charity walk from where they are to Melborne to raise sponsorship monies....
So this group were in Sydney 2 days ago and we were really sorry that we missed her.
Today , we decided to fulfil Lynda's with and drive to Palm Beach where they use for the location shooting for Home & Away ---you know it's called summer bay on the show.
So there we were driving along the A8 at about 11 am and we saw a group of Yellow T shirted people , one with very red hair, who were on their walk coming towards us.
When we had turned around and came back to them, I think a certain Chiara was totally scared as this demented mad woman came leaping out of the car and ran up to her. -- Jeffrey, thank god for FB as she had seen Lyndas photos on there recently.
Even more scary--- they missed this bit of their route 2 days ago so had to go back and do again today and we were going to do this yesterday but decided to postpone till today--- I am seriously blown away folks but great to meet you Chiara.
We do think that you need to walk a bit quicker though-- your program is slipping.

So now you have to imagine, when we left them to their walk, it was driving away in some kind of disbelief.
However , we were on a mission, and there was to be no stopping us from our Quest --- Summer Bay or bust.
So it always helps when there is a landmark and here is Palm Beach Lighthouse as seen on the show Home & Away -- well ok , so I havnt actually seen it before but you have to remember that I am with one of the worlds leading supporters and most avid watchers over the past 20 years.

Unfortunately there were no Camera's and definitely no sign of Brax , which is fortunate for him cause if he had made moves on Lynda , i'd have had to sort him out--- well you would wouldn't you.

We did see this though-----
Oh come on -- even I know who Alf is - well you would know someone who is older than methuselah---

Prime location for a selfie --

So from the wandering around the building that has bits of it in the TV show we went across to the Beach , which again even I have seen and we managed to get a photo of us both at the point of entry to the beach----

The sea was very rough yesterday and the beach was closed and this was topped by a pretty good storm last night.
But there was to be no stopping Lynda saying she had dipped her toes into the water at Summer Bay and this shot is to prove that---

We were also very impressed with some of the properties around this place-- makes Manley look like a run down area -- :-)

This then wrapped up our trek to the home of this TV show, so we headed off back to Sydney and our hotel via a Westfield shopping centre--- has to be done I am afraid.
And we wrapped our Aussie visit with a hastily arranged dinner in the evening with these wonderful people---family dinner--- 2nd one in a week.
and finally a picture of us with this young man who kind of started the whole family connection bit and who we are very proud to have as part of our family now---

So this is the end of our Australian trip and we leave today on Australia Day and Lynda and I wish you all a fantastic celebration.
For us then it is breakfast and then get ready for the drive to the Sydney Airport for the first leg of our trip home.
I want to add a big thanks to my Mate, my Buddy & the Love of my Life--Lynda-- and say that I could never do anything like this without you and your patience with me and you make the travelling around so enjoyable -- I love you loads Mrs A.
It has been an amazing mixed adventure for us both and we are so pleased to say that we did this and who knows--- maybe some time a return visit--
Never say Never
