Time we got through it was 2AM this morning. Now that would have been ok , except having been very precise in the "correct" instructions to the taxi driver, he takes us to the wrong hotel--- oh and the very silly man had driven away before we found that out of course---- notice the restraint in me.
Anyway we hailed another cab when we found out and got taken to another Metropolitan Hotel in Deira, only to find that this wasn't it either -- a same name but as up market as we should have been in --- I don't know what a frightfully awful thing to happen to us.
So there we are-- trotting behind a big strong porter who pulled our cases the 700 metres to the right Hotel--- well even they could see the distress these little mishaps were having with us both and we are extremely grateful for his assistance.
Turns out that the silly new owners of the hotels had changed the names but didn't properly tell the taxis around so confusion reigns. ( More restraint you see--- obviously the break has brought my tolerance levels down a fair bit ).
So it was bed for us at about 03.15 this morning and with all that cat napping on the plane we were wide awake by 0730 and getting out the hotel before 09.30.
So off we went in search of a bargain but I don't believe how many people in the souks were willing to help us get one---very nice people---
Of course we hadn't specifically gone to the GOLD Souk, looking for a really nice bracelet for Lynda , but once there you did get the feeling that it would have been rude not to have a good look around , and in the end, after all those nice young men were trying so hard to give us a bargain and to get us the Best Price in the market -- well you would feel bad not to have bought something -- so in the end we did , but of course at a ridiculous bargain, with the Huge discount that gave--- lucky us eh!.
Did manage to take a selfie to add to all the rest on tour and we went on to look around the clothes shops and the perfume emporiums as well as the spices--- the smells around those shops are incredible.
Someone close to our hearts in Aegina suggested that we should see if we could find this place -- and guess what----- we did.
So having got to midday with my wallet still in my shorts and no major arguments and not without quite a bit of humour on the way-- we wrapped up the Looking for a Bargain bit and headed back to the hotel and a pool they have on the roof.
It does become good though when -- by the time we leave it -- it has been our own , with no-one else there a all and a chance to chill out after the travelling and the constant bargains we have had thrust upon us and a spot of light lunch to go with it.
So now gonna get a swift bit of shut eye before wandering down to the in-hotel "Dublin Arms" and get me a Guinness---ok not exactly Donny & Nesbitts but gotta be a good opportunity not to be missed.
Salam
