Ok so not a relaxed shot without props but with good food -- A Thai curry is always go0od with me -- and a chilled glass vinos -- then I am fairly relaxed, so those bits aside , not for the first time , I was asked if I was a writer.
Not sure if that is due to being old , or being old with long grey hair that does it or whether this is the kind of face that has the battered look of someone who has to have sweated blood for his craft and looks like I have been through the mill of rejection from those wonderful publishers--- but either way, it is a little odd that it supports the fact that I have always liked to write.
There are a number of Clients and Subcontractors that know how much I like to write and can probably testify to the gripping stories that they have had the pleasure of spending their valuable time pouring over the works of Philip Andrews.
They bare definitely, not like wot he wrote----
and whilst I might have a fairy tail idea of one day writing like theses two ---
James Patterson
---- the chances of that occurring are somewhere between 0 & -1.
I have to say that since stepping back from being the man in the front line as a director of projects and delivering the largest facilities to the tightest of deadlines and taking over the role of Head of Risk Management , I have probably written as much as any novelist in terms of sheer volume and words, in fact I probably wrote the sequel as well.
The wonderful world that I have been involved for the past 3 years has been establishing policies and procedures , that help protect the business from unnecessary risks and all the while educating those of our employees who are most likely to notice that they are exposing the company to potential future financial problems.
So it has been about establishing our Business Continuity Plan, our Risk Management Policies & Procedures and starting a journey to educate staff to the way the company expects them to behave-----
A bit pompous you might think---certainly cant blame people for thinking it highbrow or really uninteresting but actually , if you think about it being a way to protect your livelihood , then why wouldn't everyone want to manage risk better.
Clearly these guys didn't do a great job and you would have to wonder whether their company policies were adequate or whether the bosses were so arrogant that they truly believed that they were invincible in the financial world----
These guys and Gals very nearly caused the World of Finance to completely collapse , as if what happened wasn't bad enough with many countries today still trying to drag themselves out of the mire that they were in.
So for me, it was an interesting role to take up and one which if you run your projects in the right way , you are already managing risk on a daily basis, making decisions that could ultimately determine success or failure.
So the big question is --- "Is there a book inside of ME" -- well , I would like to think so, I enjoy writing --- I have certainly enjoyed downloading onto this blog my thoughts and Lynda and my experiences & travels---whether anyone reads it or not.
As for yesterday, we stayed out of the sun and went and did what we do quite well and that is shopping down in port douglas.
We are booked on our trip out to the Great Barrier Reef, so I am hopeful that we will have enough good (or reasonable) photos to fill an album on our return and we also decided to make our own trip into parts of the rain forest--- and we bought a dress and a shirt for me--- no , the shirt is for me and the dress is for Lynda.
Views from the lookout over Port Douglas--
Finally we had a great burger last night --- a proper burger outside by the pool bar and here is a shot back towards the Hotel --- we will try to do better next time
Or maybe I should stick to talking about it-- Lord knows that I have people in my life like Lynda , & Rod and Ann who can testify to the fact that I can talk the hind legs of a donkey.
But then again they all had to start some place------
So in the meantime , where did Enid Blyton start from --- I must do some research------
