Well he wouldn't have approved at all about scantily - if any at all-- clothed women on the beach that has his name to it.
Well , in his day women were in the house cleaning and cooking and tending children --- hey i'm not saying that's right -- it was the way it was back in his day.
Beaches were for land rowing boats on to have fights with people who didn't agree with his philosophy's , religion or just weren't British. Beaches were for landing rowing boats on and dumping the convicts out.
He would most certainly not put up with those fricking convicts cavorting about on the beaches like this, especially not ones with his name to them and certainly not like we have seen with our own eyes, here in Byron Bay.
Having said that , when you read what Byron was like and some of the mischief he actually got in to , I for one could certainly see Byron as a surfer Dude--- he would have , I think, enjoyed the challenge.
The problem that |Byron and the others hadn't considered when they dumped those convicts on this place now called Australia is that these nasty people would actually learn how to take care of themselves, that they would actually survive-- and in Kerry Packers case, rather well or in Rupert Murdoch's case that one of them would have the impertinence to come back and cause mayhen with introducing Page 3 to the unprepared British public.
When you see that you kind of understand the pictures I have shown from Byron Bay beach up above.
The only good thing the british did switch on to was that you could make a few quid from charging the convicts a tenner per person for hipping them out there--- well, if the've gotta go you might as well get an earner from it , right.
Anyway , where were we, oh yes , travelling down the Sunshine highway heading back to Sydney and stopping by a few places on the way.
This you see , would of been a bit like the map would have looked like--- not with some big red arrow point to the spot where the near naked surfer chicks go!
So some pretty standard stuff down the road yesterday ---not much excitement there i'm afraid
See that--so bored with whats outside she has reverted to photo'ing me.
So lots of thisThousands of kilometres of this--
Lots of this--
Some very Australian designed hotels---
Plenty of homesteads like these
And a new one for us -- pine forests---
This is Noosa Head were we stayed the night before--very flash apartments that get let out like a hotel when the owners are not gonna be there--seams to happen a lot-- bit like time share but a lot posher---
Proper suite it was and the name of the place is Peppers at Noosa with a great restaurant called The View -- bit of a contradiction in terms as the view was crap but then I guess they never said it was gonna be a good view.
This is the meal in the view---
Duck in pancakes for Lynda and 18 hour roast lamp for me.
This bridge below in Brisbane is awesome and everything looks all over the place
Then we get this come up[ on the sign boards --- I would never have put gold coast and Ipswich in the same sentence----
No-one said that buddy holly was in town-- bit disappointing that his hubcaps were missing-- wonder if there were any scallies around---
So here is what we saw driving down to Byron Bay---- Surf's Up.
Actually the wind and the waves have precluded much surfing over these two days hereLynda and I went off to a place called Balinna looking for a fishing boat to hire to try our hand but we learnt that even the proper fishermen were being advised to not venture out today---
This was dinner last night -- very noisy place for the most part with lots of new world and hippy types and they were very young --- so to fined a really great Vietnamese Restaurant was very welcome as it was of the beaten track----
Our hotel in Byron and I am writing this from the right , just above the entrance to garage.
After the drive around this m0rning we spent the day by the small pool and finished with a cooked chicken and salad in our roomEnded up with these chaps as dinner companions though---
So that's 2 days worth of catching up after driving around a thousand Kilometres in that time but the nicest photo for us was another selfie folks -- of Lynda not happy no makeup on, and me up at Cape Byrons Lighthouse--- perfect.
