I say Anyone as it would be a little presumptuous of me thinking there was more than Lynda reading this every day.
Anyway, as the Snow and the freeze starts to settle in over the Dales back home and gradually spreading across the rest of the UK, I look out across the greenery of a golf course from our balcony, listening to the kookaburra's, and getting ready to go down to breakfast before a dip in the pool, it is good to reflect on why where here--- no , not as in the mystical bit, or the Darwin stuff--- but why I am actually sitting in the Double Tree Hilton in Alice Springs , when the travel agents had us booked in to the IBIS Styles hotel.
This is the IBIS---
Go on their website will tell you how a great photo shoot can disguise a multitude of issues--- like groups of aborigines sitting around drinking in the afternoon around the property, rooms that were dirty-- sheets , bathrooms and generally an overall feeling of no security at all and a little anxious .
It wasn't until I went onto tripadvisor and saw the many very negative comments from others who stayed there that it fitted what we saw.
So we opted for finding our own and the following is a couple of shots of the Double Tree Hilton and a hotel which as Lynda pointed out is very little more expensive but a whole lot nicer---
Not every hotel you get one of these to welcome you
So this Bar-b-q shot is for our friend Rodney as I am not sure I have seen a larger or better one in my life and I know he would appreciate this.
One of my first beers of the trip-- not bad pale ale
And my Thai Red Curry from last night which was really YUMMY
On the way down to Alice Springs we saw a few worthwhile things to cap
So this was a farm of the Emu and it was on the menu in the café-----couldn't do it----Thankfully Lynda has agreed that Darwin is not on the agenda
So this train line above is the line that we have travelled alongside since Adelaide and I assume that it will travel on up to Darwin after here.
This afternoon will see us dump the car in the Alice Springs airport and catch our flight to Cairn with us hopefully getting to the hotel around 9pm tonight.
So the first leg is almost done, and the next part of the adventure starts. If it is anywhere as good as the first , then happy days.
